Octopus by Kostan Lagace
Colorific is starting a new monthly feature, where we showcase one of our wonderful clients. We love our clients and the amazing work they do! This month, we are proud to feature the work of west coast artist, Kostan Lagace of Coastal Fusion Art. In the artist’s words:
Coastal fusion art is a unique blend of traditional formline design mixed with modern contemporary aspects. As an individual I have a huge love and respect for art, culture, the environment and the creatures we share within it. It is my purpose as an artist to inspire and bring people together to have a greater sense and understanding for the benefit of all.
For his latest production entitled Octopus, Colorific produced a truly unique piece, combining lightjet photographic printing with acrylic transmounting. Transmounting is the process of reverse mounting to the underside of acrylic. Lightjet photographic printing is ideal for large format artwork, as the process does not involve ink like traditional printing. The result is a continuous tone colour print, with no dot patterns. Finally a hidden french cleat hanging system was used – a clean and simple method of installation, giving the piece a floating effect.
Transmounting is a popular finishing and display process for artists. The polished acrylic adds depth without overpowering the artwork, maintaining a clean and professional look. Colorific is the leader in this specialized process, having refined our method over many years. Contact us today if you are interested in the transmounting process for your next project.
Thanks to Kostan Lagace for allowing us to feature his work in our client showcase. In addition to his custom acrylic artwork seen here, Kostan also has available limited edition giclee prints and smaller reproductions on a heavy weight fine art paper using archival inks. You can contact Kostan through his Facebook page, or by email for more information.
